When a machine arrives on site, someone has to get power to it, connect it correctly, and prove it works before it goes into production. That is the work E&B does.
We provide electrical installation, modification and maintenance services for industrial machinery and equipment, working alongside machinery suppliers, equipment specialists and industrial operators. The scope ranges from connecting a single machine through to power distribution for a workshop, and from relocating equipment to upgrading what is already installed.
This sits alongside our core mining work rather than replacing it — the same electrical capability applied to fixed plant and workshop machinery instead of underground equipment.
Machinery installations and equipment connections
New machinery needs a supply of the right size, terminated properly, with isolation and protection to suit the load.
That covers running the supply to the machine, installing the isolator, terminating at the machine, and checking rotation, earthing and protection before it is handed over. Milling machines, CNC equipment, presses, compressors, pumps and materials handling all follow the same principles even though the machines differ.
Where a machinery supplier is handling commissioning of the machine itself, we handle the electrical side up to and including the connection, and work to whatever the supplier's documentation requires.
Machinery relocations and electrical modifications
Moving a machine is rarely just a matter of unbolting it. The electrical side has to be disconnected safely, made ready for transport, and reinstated correctly at the other end.
E&B can carry out the safe disconnection and isolation of equipment before a move, label and record what was connected where, and reconnect and test the machine once it is in position. Where the new location needs a different supply arrangement, that can be planned as part of the same job rather than discovered afterwards.
Modifications to equipment already in service follow the same approach. Adding a drive, changing protection, relocating controls or altering a machine to suit a changed process are all electrical changes that are better done properly than worked around.
Industrial power distribution and motor control
Machinery is only as reliable as the supply and the motor control behind it.
E&B installs and modifies three-phase supplies and distribution, sub-boards, isolators and the cabling that feeds industrial equipment. On the control side that includes direct-on-line and star-delta starters, variable speed drive installations, protection and the control wiring that ties it together.
Our workshop capability means motor control equipment can be built and tested on the bench before it goes in, rather than being assembled in place under time pressure. You can read more about that on our MCC refurbishment and upgrades page.
Fault finding, testing and commissioning
Industrial machinery stops for electrical reasons more often than most operators expect, and the fault is not always where the symptom appears.
E&B provides electrical fault finding on industrial plant and machinery — supply problems, control circuit faults, protection that keeps operating, intermittent faults that only appear under load. The approach is to find the cause rather than replace parts until the symptom disappears.
On the testing side, installation work is checked and tested before handover, and we can support commissioning of the electrical scope alongside a machinery supplier or an operator's own team.
